Ermioni went with her sister Eftihida to Ephesus to meet St John, who had died in the meantime, and found Petronius, from whom she was tought the Gospels and the Scripts.
Ermioni had the gift of telling the future as a prophecy. According to the legend, Emperor Trajan went to Ephesus to see Ermioni and ask her if he would beat the Persians. She told him that he would manage to beat the Persians but Hadrian, his brother in law, would become the Emperor.
When her prophecy became true, Trajan had Ermioni tortured, but her torturers believed in Christ and set her free. Ermioni died a peaceful death and was buried in Ephesus.
She was declared a saint by the Greek Orthodox Church and the memory and nameday of Saint Ermioni are celebrated on September 4th.
